Nevertheless, there are instances in which police pursuits of fleeing vehicles injure innocent motorists and other victims. Where those pursuits or chases may not have been justified, or may not have been conducted in accordance with proper procedures, we have been willing to pursue claims against the police. We have handled police pursuit claims arising both before and after the adoption of the statewide uniform pursuit policy adopted early in the year 2000 in Connecticut, pursuant to Connecticut General Statutes § 31-283a.
