St. Francis Hospital Found Liable in Child Sex Abuse Case
On July 8, 2011, a jury in Waterbury, Connecticut found St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center legally responsible for failing to properly supervise and oversee a medical research study being conducted by its employee, Dr. George Reardon. The jury also found that the defendant hospital did not fulfill its duty to protect children in its custody. As a result, the hospital has been ordered to pay the plaintiff $2,750,000.00 in compensatory damages. The plaintiff in the case was represented by Attorney Douglas Mahoney from Bridgeport, Connecticut. More than ___ cases of sexual abuse have been filed against St. Francis as a result of Dr. Reardon’s conduct and this is the first case to be decided by a jury.
