$2,000,000 Settlement – Personal Injury – Slip & Fall On Icy Stairs
John Doe was a private contractor for the United States Navy and worked out of the U.S. Naval Base in Groton, Connecticut. On March 19, 2007, around 6:30am., Mr. Doe was on his way to report for work when he slipped on ice on the stairs of his office building and fell down the steps and felt immediate pain in his foot and back. Mr. Doe had suffered what is called complex regional pain syndrom to his food and ankle which did not improve with time. The case was brought against the United States of America under the Federal Tort Claims Act. There is no jury trial in these cases, and the case is tried in front of a federal judge. Attorney Eugene Swain represented Mr. Doe in this case. The matter was settled upon payment of $2,000,000 by the United States of America.
