From Law Clerk to Attorney: John’s Path to Personal Injury Law
John’s path to becoming a personal injury lawyer began well before his admission to the Connecticut bar in November 2025. After completing his first year at the University of Connecticut School of Law, he joined RisCassi & Davis as a summer law clerk in 2023. He remained with the firm throughout law school, working closely with our attorneys on active litigation matters. Over that time, he gained firsthand experience with the issues that define personal injury practice—insurance coverage disputes, medical records analysis, damages evaluation, and the procedural demands of civil litigation. Upon graduating and passing the bar, he officially joined the firm as an attorney.
Academic Excellence with Real-World Relevance
John earned his Juris Doctor, with Honors, from UConn Law. He concentrated his studies on Insurance Law & Regulation and Health Law, earning Certificates in both. That background is directly relevant to representing injury victims. Personal injury cases often hinge on understanding insurance policies, coverage limits, regulatory obligations, and the intersection of healthcare systems and legal claims. His academic focus in these areas gives him a strong foundation for analyzing complex insurance issues and navigating medical-legal questions that arise in serious injury cases.
During law school, John also received the CALI Award for Excellence in Bankruptcy Law and Law and Economics. His training in economics and quantitative analysis—building on his undergraduate major—strengthens his ability to evaluate financial damages, lost earning capacity, and long-term economic impact for injured clients. He was also an active member of the Mock Trial Society, competing at a national competition hosted by Harvard Law School, and served as Executive Editor of the Connecticut Insurance Law Journal.
John earned his Bachelor of Arts from Hamilton College, majoring in Economics with a minor in Mathematics—an academic combination that supports the detailed, analytical work required in complex personal injury litigation.
